Bjørn Leerkes

(Director of TWA / Registered broker and appraiser of movable property)

Since 2008, I have been involved in advising banks, bankruptcy trustees, leasing companies, and businesses on financing issues, bankruptcies, lease applications, and complex matters relating to machinery, assets, inventory, and intellectual property. During this period, I have worked for the most specialized companies in the Netherlands, and since 2022, I have been the director of TWA B.V.

The courts regularly appoint me as a judicial expert in complex valuation matters.

Based on my knowledge and years of experience as an insolvency specialist in optimizing asset values, I am regularly involved in the winding-up processes of manufacturing and trading companies.

In such situations, the liquidation value is often not the true underlying value of the assets, but a much better result can be achieved through optimization and a smart mix of sales methods.

In this process, I act as an advisory and executive manager/consultant to realize the optimal value, including by completing production processes, conducting private sales, and then a thorough final sale of the entire asset base.

With the advent of the WHOA, I have also specialized in determining the liquidation value in a broader context than just the valuation itself. Our reports contribute significantly to a broader understanding of the value dynamics of both tangible and intangible assets (IP and other soft intellectual property rights, in conjunction with other assets) in various scenarios that can arise in such cases.

Regarding inventories, I conduct audits for clients, carefully mapping all relevant parameters surrounding value and collateral, including developing various scenarios to arrive at an optimal valuation.

Knowledge in these areas provides my clients with the best basis for making well-considered decisions. This involves not only the valuation of the asset itself, but also the next step: informing our clients beyond just the value, so they can take the right actions or make timely decisions.

We see ourselves as problem solvers based on the advice we provide. We don’t just provide advice; we also stand by it and implement it as soon as our client asks us to implement the advice and the settlement scenario.

In this role, I have supported various large and interested parties with financing applications, sales processes, and insolvency situations in the Netherlands and Europe, including all major Dutch banks, international financing syndicates, trustees, and courts.

To safeguard my expertise, I am a member of the Federation of Valuers of Movable Property (TMV).
