Bjørn Leerkes

Since 2008, Bjorn Leerkes has been actively advising banks, receivers, leasing companies and businesses on financing issues, bankruptcies, lease applications and complex issues relating to machinery, assets, inventories and intellectual property. During this period, he has worked for some of the most specialised companies in the Netherlands and, since 2022, he has been director of TWA B.V.

The court regularly appoints Bjorn as a legal expert in complex valuation issues. Thanks to his knowledge and years of experience as an insolvency specialist, he is often involved in the liquidation processes of manufacturing and trading companies. In such situations, the liquidation value often does not represent the actual underlying value of the assets; a better result can be achieved through optimisation and a smart combination of sales methods.

In this process, Bjorn acts as an advisory and executive manager/consultant to realise the optimal value, including by completing production processes, executing private sales and organising a thorough final sale of all assets. With the advent of the WHOA, he has also specialised in determining the liquidation value in a broader context than just the valuation itself. His reports contribute to a broader understanding of the value dynamics of both tangible and intangible assets (IP and other soft intellectual property rights).

In the area of inventories, Bjorn conducts audits for clients, carefully mapping out all relevant parameters relating to value and collateral, including working out various scenarios to arrive at an optimal valuation. This knowledge provides his clients with a solid basis for making well-informed decisions. This involves not only the valuation of the object itself, but also the next steps: clients gain insight so that they can take the right actions or make the right decisions in a timely manner.

Bjorn and his team see themselves as problem solvers based on their advice. They not only provide advice, but also implement it as soon as the client requests the advice and the settlement scenario to be implemented. In this role, he has supported various large and interested parties in financing applications, sales processes and insolvency situations in the Netherlands and Europe, including all major Dutch banks, international financing syndicates, receivers and courts.

To guarantee his knowledge and professionalism, Bjorn is a member of the Federation of Valuers of Movable Property (TMV).
